This was one of the first ever videos shot of me taking photographs at a wedding way back in the summer of 2007. Its a very simple shot that I still use now with little flower girls.

We seem to get asked at least once or twice a month whether we do wedding videos as well as the wedding photography and we always say “nope sorry thats not our thing” ……… apart from this one time when we agreed to do video and photography. I think it came out ok but its not our thing so we stick to wedding photography only these days!

What happens if it rains on the day of my wedding?

Its a question that we get asked quite a lot by clients and its something that we used to worry about ourselves when we first started photographing weddings but in the UK you get used to shooting wet weddings very quickly, particularly with the summer of floods we had in 2007.

The great thing about rain in the UK is that it rarely rains solidly all day, there’s usually at least some break in it so even on the wettest days you have a chance to get outside for some photographs and even if it is raining when your outside brollies can be fun and its amazing how bright the shots can look even when its lashing it down.

Here’s a short video clip of a very wet wedding we shot in 2009 and even though the video shows how wet it was I think you will agree that the picture certainly doesn’t make it look that wet.

Ive just invested in some of these so thought I would share the overview video here.

Apart from a few bugs I am very impressed with these and being able to shot at much higher shutter speeds and without line of sight still using TTL is going to give me some great creative options for future shoots …. not to mention saving by not using manual remote flashes.

Backgrounds for ring shots are sometimes hard to find, heres Jon using the best mans sleeve as the background for the rings which also gets the wedding colours into the shot.

This is a shot we usually take to give a different perspective on the Wedding Cake. Its a very straight forward shot but it helps if your tall and have long arms.

Time is always in short supply during a wedding day and one way to maximise the time you do have is with smooth shot to shot transitions.

This is an example of two quite different shots and how we transition from one to the other.

Time is always in short supply during a wedding day but you should always have spare time for a little fun with the wedding guests. If guests can see you having fun and have fun themselves then it makes for a much nicer day for everyone and is great marketing for you.

This is a quick and easy shot to take but its usually a favourite with our clients. A nice long road or path is ideal for this shot and all the better if it’s also tree lined.
